What is Brilliance?

Yes what exactly is brilliance?

An often over used, over emphasised word used to describe almost anything and anyone these days. Be it a little move away from mediocrity, a tiny shift away from the steady state. Is that brilliance?

Not in my book.

Brilliance personified happened on the 4th August 2012. The venue, the London Olympic stadium. From seat 390 Block 106, I was witness to one 1 hour of sheer brilliance courtesy of  Jess Ennis, Mo Farah and Greg Rutherford.

No matter how amazing the support team, how many hours of blood,  sweat and tears happen during training or at the dress rehersal, that one small window of intoxicating brilliance to perform at the very top comes but once in life time to many of us and perhaps never to even more of us.

But step back into history and you will find other examples of brilliance. Acts of courage, acts of heroism, such as Rosa Parks who in December 1955 refused in to give up her seat on a bus in Alabama. That single defiant act would go on to ignite the Civil Rights movement.

But there are some modern day brilliant people around. Those that refuse to conform. Those that have vision, ambition and determination to see a better world.  People of substance. People of depth. Thank god for these people.

Take a bow Brilliant People.

(Spitsbergen to me and you) http://www.ocnwide.com/ocn.htm Why go there ? i was asked many times over. Many thought i was a lunatic and very very few thought it was fantastic. In fact those few (strangers) thought i had made their day by mentioning this fact. Were they wanting shot of me?? they had only just met me... hmmm i wonder now.... The truth of it was i wanted to find inner peace, a calmness, a happiness from within. I wanted to go there and feel one with the landscape. I would go alone. so did i find it ? did i find my Utopia ? The answer - NO! and i have only myself to blame for this - for I did far too much talking, far too much laughing, far too much merry making.... But its gotta be said .. it was one of the most enjoyable times of mylife. The landscape was absolutely jaw dropping. The majestic glaciers were unbelievable. So unashamedly and unbelievably BEAUTIF...
