The Arctic ....ashes to ashes

Travel log - Last month i went on an Arctic Expedition. An Expedition around the Archipeligo island of Svalbard. (Spitsbergen to me and you) http://www.ocnwide.com/ocn.htm
Why go there ? i was asked many times over. Many thought i was a lunatic and very very few thought it was fantastic. In fact those few (strangers) thought i had made their day by mentioning this fact. Were they wanting shot of me?? they had only just met me... hmmm i wonder now.... The truth of it was i wanted to find inner peace, a calmness, a happiness from within. I wanted to go there and feel one with the landscape. I would go alone.

so did i find it ? did i find my Utopia ?

The answer - NO!

and i have only myself to blame for this - for I did far too much talking, far too much laughing, far too much merry making....

But its gotta be said .. it was one of the most enjoyable times of mylife. The landscape was absolutely jaw dropping. The majestic glaciers were unbelievable. So unashamedly and unbelievably BEAUTIFUL!! .

So as i surveyed the landscape my mind was made up ...I know not why but this was it, this was the place my ashes would rest. It was so beautiful i wanted to die there....

morbid ? hmm i dont think so. My mind was made up. Im dead cert of that

.. although this got me thinking of all the times i have nearly nearly died

1. a very very fast flat spin while skydiving @ 13,500 feet in 2004
2. riding on the bitch peg of a fireblade while we do 120mph on the M4 and Jesus im losing grip

3. falling of my bike onto the path off double decker in Oxford in 1993
4. walking along the ledge of a high rise roof when i was 5

perhaps i'll be paying the arctic a visit quicker than i think ? i hope not ...

its good to like danger .. a healthy dose that is .. whod wanna lead a boring life

anyway talking off ashes .. Come on England !

track of the week : Foo fighers No way Back

hmmm perhaps it was '92. It was a bad year for me, so anything coulda happened including amnesia.

The Arctic was very cold and very cool. Go there before it melts :)

Stomping on a floating iceberg ? U lucky lucky thing :)

Failing exams and falling off bikes made '92 the year to forget.
